On September 25th, the Church marked Migrants and refugee day.
The summer months have slipped between our fingers and autumn is upon us. We have enjoyed visiting family and friends and have travelled about the land or in nature to find the peace that a busy life steals from us. Coming back to the reality of our world, autumn helps us realise that it is back to business but not as usual. We have been bombarded about news from the many parts of the world that one cannot remain indifferent. This is a change of heart that we are awakening to. Touched by the violence and suffering in our world, we realise that a change of attitude is needed in all of us. Our faith in Christ is calling us to leave our comfort zone and to put ourselves beside our brothers and sisters unjustly living experiences that disturbs us. Caring for others is becoming not only a must but a priority. We may not remain indifferent. Caring for others is not a political duty but firstly our Christian response. “Love one another” Christ told. Standing for our belief will give us the freedom we are searching for. As the leaves change color, and its beauty radiates around us, so must this request put forth by Christ. It is the beacon guiding us for the days to come. Let us be Christ-like in our lives with others. Help us support those who are suffering for their faith and let us walk with them. This is an expression of our faith in Jesus. Enjoy the fall sunsets and let it give rise to a new day for all.
