History

Canadian Aid to Persecuted Christians (CAPC) was born out of the personal struggle and experience of its founding members, Nadeem Bhatti (originally from Pakistan, now a Canadian citizen) and sister, Rubina Bhatti. Having grown up in Pakistan, both are knowledgeable about the abuses experienced by religious minorities.

CAPC was incorporated as a not-for-profit organization in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan in April 2019. The inaugural Annual General Meeting was held in Saskatoon a month later.

Nadeem is Chair of the Board and President, and is beyond passionate about assisting the persecuted. He spends long hours on the phone speaking with victims and their families, and giving direction to the ground operations. He visits Pakistan as often as possible; in early spring of 2022, he spent 2 months in Pakistan, during which he personally visited each family and case in which CAPC has been involved.

The current committed board members are steering the organization in collaboration with partners in Pakistan and close coordination on the ground. The local partners in each respective country give direction to our work, ascertain immediate support needs, pay solidarity visits to the victims, evaluate ongoing needs, help determine the level of threat a family is facing, and organize the appropriate distribution of resources (e.g. new living quarters, relocation help, etc.) according to what the Board has allocated.
