Some Statistics on the Flooding

Some heartbreaking scenes….

By now you will have heard and seen the horrific scenes of the flooding in Pakistan.  The CBC is reporting that a third of the country is underwater. The statistics are sobering:

Pakistan has declared a state of emergency due to the catastrophic devastation of the recent floods because of the monsoons. 166 districts are affected but 66 districts have been officially declared ‘calamity hit’.  The people need prayers as well as immediate support. Relief is urgent but their rehabilitation would also need serious attention down the road.

Canadian Aid to Persecuted Christians (CAPC) Saskatoon-based Charity is uniquely positioned to be of immediate help on the ground through its partner in Pakistan. The NOC’s Certificates of permission have been obtained from the government during a visit to some of the areas. CAPC is seeking donations and partnerships for funds in our relief efforts during this catastrophic event. As you can imagine the needs are overwhelming. Any amount with which you can help would be appreciated.

The local partner has done the survey required paperwork and obtained the NOC’s permission. (National & Provincial & Disaster Management Authority (NDMA).  Pakistan has reported the following damages and losses Index prepared by NDMA on the 22nd of August”.

The federal government has reported an estimated 10 billion $US loss.

We have been praying for some time that God would overrule and change the extremist’s attitude and treatment of Christians in both Pakistan and Afghanistan. Now, as Christians, CAPC is uniquely positioned to show the love of God reaching out to all in a spirit of love and compassion through the meeting of these dire needs.  Food distributions have already begun to those who have lost everything in the floods.
