With deep shock and grief, I share the horrifying news of the brutal, targeted killing of Pastor Kamran Malik. After surviving one attempt on his life on September 10, Pastor Salamat was murdered at 8:00 am on Thursday, December 4, 2025, in Gujranwala, Pakistan while taking his daughter to school. The attacker shot him three times. His 16-year-old daughter is an eyewitness to the murder, which, from all indications, was carried out to stop him from proclaiming the Gospel.
Pastor Kamran Malik was a devoted husband and father to two daughters and one son, all of whom love the Lord. He was a registered pastor with a Bachelor of Theology (BTH), and previously ran a church and worked with youth in the Christian slum of Iqbal Town, Islamabad.
For months, he had been threatened and pursued by extremists warning him to stop his preaching and close the church. Despite these threats, he continued to spread God’s word.
On Sunday September 20, 2025, while heading to church, he was attacked and severely injured by unknown assailants. He survived that initial attack, even though the hospital was hesitant to treat him, and it took public pressure for the FIR (first information report) to be registered and his treatment to begin.
Pastor Salamat moved his family from Islamabad to Gujranwala in an attempt to find safety. Tragically, the extremists were relentless and killed him on December 4. We mourn this martyr for Christ, Pastor Kamran Malik, who has given his life for his faith.
The relentless, frequent attacks on the Christian community in Pakistan are heartbreaking, and they are growing. We must come together and appeal for protection for our families, lives, property, and dignity in Pakistan—not only in the capital but also in smaller areas. I appeal for prayers for Pakistan and its Christians, especially those serving God’s kingdom, that God may protect them.
The Official Police Complaint was filed on December 5th against Rashid Abbasi, in the Civil Line Police Gujranwala by Pastor Salamat’s wife, Salmina Kamran. The accused murderer, Rashid Abbasi, has been arrested by local police. The Investigation Officer is compiling pieces of information to bind a Challan (official investigation) to be submitted to the court.
Our team paid a solidarity visit to the victim’s family to conduct a needs assessment for his wife and children.
